Welcome on the official site of the Free Radio Service Holland, a non political & non religious Free Radio station operating on the shortwave bands. Independent and free…. The station started on Sunday August 31st 1980 and eversince more than 40 years have passed. A period with ups but also downs. What kept (and keeps!) us going can be best described as “for the love of (Free) Radio”. In the knowledge we do operate independently, our station output consists of a wide variety of ingredients in which quality pop music from the 1960s till present time- 6 decades- a major role plays. In addition FRS-Holland provides its listening audience with radio related items in various shows and not to forget radio news in ‘FRS goes DX’. One of our jingles says ‘Radio is our Passion’ & one of our slogans ‘A Balance between Music and Information joint to one Format’ . Perhaps these two slogans reflect best what the Free Radio Service Holland stands for…

This website represents 40+ years of FRS-Holland. An in depth look in the life of a Free Radio station. Photos, illustrations, audio clips, links but foremost information…a detailed history- year by year– starting in 1980 (see the ‘History Menu’ on the right side of the main menu). With this website we make it our aim to secure FRS-Holland’s heritage, publishing it to all Free Radio enthusiasts and friends who are well disposed to us.
